Credal recognizes that becoming an Incredable is a lot more than taking a job. It means subscribing to our mission, immersing yourself in our culture and bracing yourself for the emotional rollercoaster of trying to do something almost impossibly ambitious.

Given all that, it makes sense that many of our employees choose to live in a close vicinity of each other, and our office. Although this proposition sells itself, we also choose to subsidize that choice, especially for folks that are moving from lower cost areas, to Dumbo, to remove any financial considerations associated with fully immersing yourself in Credal’s community and culture.

Our housing subsidy consists of two components:

1. A base subsidy of $500 per month
2. A location adjustment of up to $1,500 per month, which is calculated as the rental price differential between your previous location zip code and our office area.

The location adjustment is calculated using Zillow's Rental Market Trends data (for 1-bedroom apartments) at the time of your move (or if you already live in the subsidy zone, at the time of your next renewal). You can check here. We compare your previous zip code's average rent to DUMBO (11201) to determine your monthly adjustment. Once established, this amount remains fixed as long as you maintain residence within our subsidy zone.

For example, if you're moving from an area where 1-bedroom apartments average $3500/month to DUMBO where they average $4,500/month, you'd receive:

• $500 base subsidy
• $1,000 location adjustment
• Total: $1,500 monthly subsidy

If Credal's office location changes, your established subsidy will be protected until one year from your most recent lease renewal, giving you time to plan your next move. If two Incredables choose to live together within the subsidy zone, the subsidy each individual is eligible for will be calculated and summed.

• In order to be eligible for the subsidy, you need to have lived in the previous zip for at least 6 months, and the new address must be either:
  • Within 25 minutes walking distance
  • Within 7 minutes Bike Distance
  • Within 10 minutes via Subway (inclusive of walking time)
  • All travel times should be calculated on Google Maps, and can be measured in either direction at any time of day.
• If you are joining Credal from college outside of New York City, your subsidy will be set to $500 per month, in addition to the initial temporary housing the company provides.
• If you already live in the subsidy zone, you will be eligible for the subsidy at the point at which you renew your lease
